Music
I’ve been pretty stressed lately about my recent realization that I don’t like/hate almost all of the music I used to listen to… I have an almost-full 60gb iPod and most of it is worthless to me now. I’ve been trying to find new music and really figure out what I like, and here’s what I know so far.
Psychostick, Local H, and Dethklok are still my favorite bands. “Twelve Angry Months” is still my pick for best release of 2008.
Slipknot is still pretty cool I guess, but I don’t really feel like listening to them much lately. Whenever I listen to their latest album I get kinda pissed off in the middle with all the slow songs and the balad and stuff… I like Stone Sour too, but PLEASE don’t mix the two.
Evacuate Chicago was – and still is – a smart purchase. I’ve been recommending it to all of my friends and family who like Psychostick, and even the ones who don’t (which really isn’t very many
).
Most of the stuff I can’t listen to anymore seems to just be the grunge / post-grunge / alt-metal stuff. Pretty much all the “radio friendly” stuff. Theres a few exceptions to that, but I think I just really like the hardcore heavy stuff a lot more than I used to now…
I rediscovered my Bloodsimple, HURT, and Five Finger Death Punch CDs. All three are awesome bands. HURT’s “Volume One” is amazing.
My friends hooked me up with some Shadows Fall which I have really enjoyed. They kind of remind me of Killswitch Engage, except the singer doesn’t sound like an complete idiot.
Been listening Mastodon and Meshuggah more and more. Math metal ftw!
The Offspring still rocks! I don’t think I could ever get tired of them. (And ‘Ixnay’ is still their best album!)
Sevendust might still be cool, I think? I don’t know. They have so many albums that I don’t know what to listen to. It seems like every time I turn the radio on (whenever I can stand it… which isn’t often) they have a new song playing.
I liked the new Guns ‘N’ Roses album quite a bit when it finally came out, but now I think I’m over it already.
I can’t stand to listen to AC/DC. There once was a time where I could tolerate them but that seems to be impossible since their new album was released. “Rock & Roll Train” is a horrible song.
